As the president of Yellow Cab SLSJET Management Corp., Simon Garber guides a New York City Yellow Cab company that manages more than 250 taxi medallions. The majority of the fleet is made up of 2014 and 2015-model hybrid vehicles, such as Ford Escapes and Toyota Camrys. Simon Garber’s company maintains wheelchair-accessible vans for customers needing more space and replaces and adds to the fleet on a yearly basis. He has set in place quality-control measures that ensure efficient operations, from on-staff mechanics to well-trained dispatchers. A particular accomplishment has involved streamlining shop procedures to cut down the time spent on diagnosing and repairing problems with the cars.
Prior to taking his current position in 2003, Symon Garber headed Manhattan Taxi Maintenance for nearly two decades. In that capacity, he oversaw the design and equipping of an automotive service center that spanned 20,000 square feet. Managing a team of 30 employees, Mr. Garber facilitated a merger of medallion management enterprises and directed one of New York’s most productive fleets. Mr. Garber supports local charities such as Bris Avrohom, which assists Russian Jewish immigrants, and is active with the Center for Jewish Life.
